Overall, it is important to remember that promotions play a big role in sales. If you want to move house quickly, you need a realtor who will actively try to sell your house. Low commission agents often make their living by adding more clients, but that means they have less time to spend in your home. There is also another factor to consider. Whenever a real estate transaction takes place, there are usually two real estate agents: the buyer’s agent and the seller’s agent. These two parties usually divide the profits among themselves. Well, if the buyer’s agent sees that your agent is earning a small commission, he will not be very motivated to earn 50% (or whatever his share is) and will show his buyers other homes whenever the opportunity arises.
Affordable real estate agencies and brokers definitely have their place in the market. However, I think most discounters would agree, if they are honest, that their business model is quantity over quality. They try to accommodate as many customers and lists as possible, leaving little time for personal contact with customers.
