How To Choose The Right Eyeshadow Color – When it comes to eye makeup, the main desire is to draw attention to the eye, making your artistry (and natural beauty) stand out!
The main element that you will need to consider first will be the shape of the eyes. It took me a while to understand why a certain makeup look doesn’t look as good on me as it does on someone else. The reason? I have deep set eyes and for example I was trying to create a makeup look that was modeled on a girl with almond shaped eyes. This attempt resulted in my prominent brows creating shadows in areas where I didn’t want them to be shadowed, which made my version look very different from what I was trying to replicate. This example is from a long time ago, when I first started my journey to professional makeup, and I’ve come a long way since then, and I’m excited to share these important tips for eyeshadow application eyes with you!

Don’t apply too much on the upper lid or too little on the lower lid with darker eyeshadows. The exception is if you want to achieve a “dirty” look with your eyeshadow for a specific style (ie: grunge, goth, rocker, etc.).

This will really help you mix it all up. Sometimes, eyeshadows or light shimmer pigments can help you balance and make the color even better than matte.
Touch up extra every time you lift the eyeshadow from the pan. This will save you from falling.
Don’t be afraid of a tight liner, it will make a huge difference and make your lashes look thicker and deeper. This is especially useful for those with hooded eyes, as the eyelid skin will hide the eyeliner. With a hooded eye, you can skip the eyeliner and go straight for a tight liner.

If you want any eyeshadow to give you more color and be more opaque, you’ll want to choose a creamy white base underneath (blended in before the final application of colored eyeshadow).
If you want your lighter eyeshadow to pop even more, you can use a darker base over it, this could be a brown or black eyeliner, cream eyeshadow or even gel eyeliner. One thing that is important is that it must be a cream-based product (so that the eyeshadow sticks to it), and it will also be mixed with a white base.
Note that if you use a black powder foundation, the color will not show through. This trick works especially well if you’re using metallic or laminate eyeshadows or pigments, or glitter on top of that base.
This is the number one reason for eyeshadow fall out. To avoid this, wet the brush, take some glitter and gently press it into the desired areas.
